Eating healthy is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and this habit is best cultivated during the adolescence. In the growing years, the need for most nutrients including energy, protein, vitamins and minerals increases. As appetite is also likely to increase, it is important that food choices are made carefully. Healthy eating also promotes good food habits to last a lifetime. It also provides energy and nutrients to ensure that during this period of adolescence the body develops and grows properly.  Healthy eating habits also promote an adolescent's participation in physical activities, extra-curricular activities, sports, etc.

  9. Seeking professional advice from trained professionals may be important when the adolescents' habits are not being managed or if one is suffering from obesity. 
Adolescents need extra nutrients to support bone growth, hormonal changes, organ and tissue development, including the brain, therefore establishing healthy eating habits in adolescence paves the path for a healthy life ahead.
