In the growing years, the need for most nutrients including energy, protein, vitamins and minerals increases. As appetite is also likely to increase, it is important that food choices are made carefully. Healthy eating also promotes good food habits to last a lifetime. It also provides energy and nutrients to ensure that during this period of adolescence the body develops and grows properly.  Healthy eating habits also promote an adolescent's participation in physical activities, extra-curricular activities, sports, etc.
